Alcohol and Lactation
Transfers into your milk, but never at a higher concentration than your blood level. 1-2 servings will not do any harm.
The risk is your actions. You cannot be impaired and also responsible for your baby. No Co sleeping while under the influence of any substance that would impair your judgment.
I suggest enjoying your favorite beverage during the day.
If you happen to over indulge, know that alcohol is cleared from your milk as you metabolize it, so no need to pump, unless you are engorged.
If you are feeling the effects, and engorged, then pump enough milk out for comfort. Consider diluting that milk with other pumped milk. Please do not trash it. Moderate alcohol use while lactating has not been shown to hurt a breastfed baby.
We hope this helps you decide what is best for you. For a personal consultation to apply the concepts to your situation: existing clients contact your consultant, or book a 30 minute coaching session.
