MEET
Ashlyn Skelton,
BSN, RN, PHN, IBCLC
From a young age, I dreamed of being a caregiver. I attended babysitting camp and began babysitting at 11. My desire to nurture led me to pursue a nursing career. And after earning my BSN from the University of San Francisco in 2016, I worked in the NICU, caring for the smallest and most vulnerable patients.
In 2018, seeking a better work/life balance, I transitioned to school nursing with the San Diego Unified School District. In 2021, amidst the pandemic, I began my lactation consultant training at UC San Diego while also preparing for the arrival of my daughter in 2022.

My first breastfeeding journey began with challenges like latch issues and a brief NICU stay. I later navigated distracted nursing, biting, and weaning. All along it deepened my appreciation for the breastfeeding relationship and I gained invaluable personal insights.

In 2024 I welcomed my son and entered into my second breastfeeding relationship. Just like how each child is unique, so is each breastfeeding relationship. I've encountered lingering let down pain, oversupply, and baby behaviors such as pinching and biting this time around.
Now, with both professional and personal experience, I’m excited to help families through their feeding journeys. Every family’s path has ups and downs, and I’m here to help you find joy in the process.
