It cannot be overstated- Your goals are my goals. My philosophy is that the IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) fills a need created by the rapid changes that have occurred, since the industrial revolution.  We lost the generational knowledge, about breastfeeding, amassed over centuries. Gone are the days when a new mother was surrounded by 3 or 4 generations of family, who had all grown up around nursing babies.  While working with Mothers, in the thick of meeting their own challenges , I hear [how did they do it, in the olden days] The answer is that everything is different.

 

 We have choices about having a career and in what field, staying near our extended family or moving away, when to start a family, how to birth, stay home or return to work...   It means that every family has different circumstances, priorities, resources, and challenges. It also means that each family can define their own success.  I am thankful to have had these choices, which led me to open Marks Lactation Support.
